What came before...

No news on the new album this week. Surprise, surprise. So, what we'll be discussing this week is Imogen's career prior to it's current incarnation.

Her first band seems to have been called Acacia, an experimental pop band. Imogen was a member, and so was a man named Guy Sigsworth. Mr. Sigsworth and Imogen would go on to create the duo known as Frou Frou. After Frou Frou, (which never officially broke up) parted ways, came Imogen's first solo album, called I Megaphone. More about all this can be read here.

It was a short one this week, I know, but I didn't want to bore you too much with a history lesson. I leave you with this, the first song I ever heard from Ms. Heap. Enjoy.

Hi all!

Information on the new album has been scarce, but the word is that a song will be released every three months as they are completed until they are all done. Then, a physical album will be released for all you old schoolers, (like myself.) Now, I've traveled to Chicago quite a few times to see Imogen in concert and it's been worth it every time. Why, you ask? Here's a taste. What's happening here, is that Imogen is leading the crowd in a song. This song, called Just for Now, is done all with voice anyway. That is, no instruments, just voice. Rumor has it that she started doing this song live this way when her equipment failed during a show.

If that ain't brilliant, what is.

I'd like to give a shout out to this blog's first follower, an anonymous stranger who goes by Bob. Hi Bob! See you later this week.

For a more in depth look at the collaborative process that went on between Imogen Heap and her fans, check here. The link leads to a page on Imogen's site where each piano key represents a date in the song "Lifeline's" production schedule. The collaboration went beyond just music making to include photographers and videographers for everything from the song's artwork to it's music video. If you're interested in seeing the artwork check here. I don't believe the music video is available yet, but I'll be sure to post a link when it is.

For those interested in Imogen's prior work, here's a link to a music video she releases as a treat for her fans during her last album's production. Talk to you later this week!

1st Post

Hello!

This blog's purpose is to keep you up to date on Imogen Heap's progress on her new album. For those who don't know, Imogen is a trained vocalist and pianist who mixes those skills with electronic music. Her interaction with her fans, via multiple online sources, is nothing short of groundbreaking. She has even gone so far as to collaborate with her fans on a song. More about that can be found here.

On the tour for her last album, Imogen recruited local musician's from each city she visited to play songs with her on stage. She also improvised songs at each city, made them available for purchase online, and donated the proceeds to a charity native to the city where the song was created. More about Ms. Heap can be found at her website. Thanks for reading!
